Random drug testing can be more effective at detecting and deterring drug use than pre-employment testing because employees do not know when they may be selected for testing and works best when combined with a pre-employment testing program that’s designed to keep drug users from being hired in the first place.   Let us help you design a program and manage it to ensure a consistent, reproducible, fair and compliant method is established. The key variables of a Random Selection program are:

  • Random Rate:  If there are 120 people in the pool and the random rate is 50%, then 60 selections will occur over a year's time.
  • Frequency Rate:   If the frequency rate is quarterly, then there will be 4 selection periods during the year.  15 tests will be performed for each selection period.
  • Over Sampling Rate:   if the over sampling rate is 20%, then 18 individuals will be randomly selected each quarter to ensure there are 15 individuals available to be tested (some may be out sick, on vacation, etc)

You simply provide us with an excel file of your employee roster each selection period we run the candidate pool selections based upon your established program variables.

Random program management is also available as a self-service tool with our STATWARE Drug Testing Software.
